X30 GROOVED DISC KVICHAK/MARCO SKIMMER INSERT
The ELASTEC X30 Skimmer can be integrated with a Kvichak/Marco Filterbelt Response Vessel. This system can quickly be changed with a filterbelt skimmer depending on the oil type and situation. The Elastec patented Grooved Disc skimming technology is based on extensive research to improve oil recovery rates by modifying the geometry of oleophilic (oil-loving) surfaces. The revolutionary oil skimming technology won the X Prize Foundation’s Wendy Schmidt Oil Cleanup X CHALLENGE. The award-winning system was able to recover 4670 gpm / 1060 cubic metres per hour! – at an average 90% efficiency when officially and independently tested at the Ohmsett facility in New Jersey.
The X30 Cassette is a custom skimming system for oil recovery vessels.
It was tested both in calm conditions and in waves. It beat competitive designs from around the world to win top honor. Copies of test reports and X Prize competition results are available on request. Grooved Disc systems have been independently tested at Ohmsett on three occasions now proving the technology is scalable.

The X30 has been tested numerous times at the Ohmsett Test Facility in New Jersey. Here is a summary of test data:
- Up to 37 gpm and up to 99% efficiency* (recovering diesel)
- 134.6 gpm at 94.5% efficiency (recovering Hydrocal 300)
- 82.9 gpm at 90.8% efficiency (recovering HyVolt II NG)
- 129.3 gpm at 97.8% efficiency (recovering Midel 7131)
